Steinman Communications is seeking a Director of Community Impact & Grantmaking to lead transformative initiatives at the intersection of education, environment, and community development. In this highly visible role, the Director of Community Impact & Grantmaking will work across three of Lancaster County's most impactful organizations, The Steinman Foundation, Lancaster County STEM Alliance, and Little Conestoga Creek Foundation. Although each organization has its own unique mission and focus area, they work together as a collaborative network committed to creating lasting community impact:

  • The Steinman Foundation: Fosters meaningful, sustainable community development with key focus areas in Local Journalism & Media Literacy, Economic & Workforce Development, and Early Childhood Development.
  • Lancaster County STEM Alliance: Operating as an initiative of The Steinman Foundation, this nationally recognized STEM ecosystem connects the community to deliver impactful STEM experiences, preparing a skilled workforce for a prosperous future.
  • Little Conestoga Creek Foundation: Promotes environmental health and community well-being through its flagship project, the Blue-Green Connector-a vibrant greenway sanctuary and accessible trail system restoring the Little Conestoga Creek watershed.

The Director of Community Impact & Grantmaking role goes far beyond traditional grant administration. You will help identify emerging opportunities, guide strategic funding initiatives, cultivate high-impact partnerships, support fundraising efforts, and oversee programs designed to improve quality of life across the Lancaster community.

Your leadership will directly influence initiatives focused on:

  • STEM education and workforce development
  • Early childhood development
  • Local journalism and media literacy
  • Environmental restoration and conservation
  • Community engagement and collaboration

What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership

  • Shape and implement program strategies aligned with organizational priorities
  • Identify emerging opportunities through research and environmental scanning
  • Provide thought leadership to ensure initiatives remain innovative and impactful

Grantmaking & Program Oversight

  • Lead end-to-end grantmaking processes, including evaluation and reporting
  • Translate data and research into actionable insights and compelling impact stories
  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities

Partnerships & Community Engagement

  • Build trusted relationships with nonprofits, educators, donors, civic leaders, and community stakeholders.
  • Support fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation and campaign strategies
  • Represent the organizations within the community and at key events as a trusted partner and ambassador

Board & Leadership Engagement

  • Prepare and present strategic updates to boards and committees through reports and presentations
  • Serve as a key liaison across stakeholders, ensuring alignment and follow-through

Operational & Team Leadership

  • Oversee program operations, budgets, and systems
  • Supervise staff, consultants, and interns as needed
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement

Requirements

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in philanthropy, nonprofit management, or related fields
  • Experience in grantmaking, program management, or community initiatives
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to measure impact
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building capabilities
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and community-centered philanthropy
