STEM, Design Thinking, Science, Math, Maker Space Teachers

Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County is a warm, inclusive Jewish day school that educates children from Early Childhood through Eighth Grade with a vigorous dual curriculum in general and Judaic studies. We inspire our students to be engaged, independent learners who embrace Jewish values and practices and strive with confidence and compassion to better the world.

Job Summary: We are actively seeking creative and dynamic educators  to serve as STEM/Design Thinking/Science/Maker Space classes for grades 1-8. If you are an educator with a passion for creativity, a knack for innovation, and a willingness to embrace new technologies, we encourage you to apply. This is a specialty class, teaching each class in the school once per week.

This position offers a unique opportunity for teachers to contribute to a vibrant learning environment, with the understanding that training will be provided for the use of new programs and machines. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work alongside other teachers to develop and implement creative lesson plans that integrate design concepts for grades 1-8. 
  • Cultivate an atmosphere of curiosity and innovation within the classroom. 
  • Embrace the opportunity to learn and incorporate new technologies into the curriculum.
  • Participate in training sessions to acquire proficiency in using various programs and machines. 
  • Implement positive classroom management strategies, ensuring a supportive and engaging learning environment. 
  • Foster collaboration and inclusivity among students. 
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills. 
  • Engage in ongoing training for the integration of new technologies. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align design education with overall curriculum goals. 
  • Communicate effectively with parents, sharing insights into students' creative projects. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. 
  • Enthusiasm for creativity, design, and technology. 
  • Willingness to undergo training to learn new programs and machines. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have a positive attitude and ability to collaborate with others

Salary range: $58,000-$75,000 commensurate with experience
