Job Summary :

Full time 2nd shift 3p-11:30 pm. Previous medical equipment/instrument sterilization experience desired. CRCST, RCST, CSR or CSPDT highly desired, or will provide training to attain certification. Flexibility required to be scheduled at Danville or Avon location. Weeknight, weekend and one holiday call rotation is shared among team. Participates in the delivery of safe, quality patient care by providing clean, disinfected, sterilized instruments, implants, metal goods, and equipment to hospital departments. The Certified/Registered Central Sterile technician is also responsible for providing case carts to Surgery and ChildBirth Center and resupply and clean items to all units.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of all instruments, metal goods, and equipment used for patient care.
  • Assembling and packaging of all instruments and implants and assuring that they are correctly labeled and assembled.
  • Responsible for safe operation of all equipment used for cleaning and sterilization. (i.e. HIVAC sterilizer, ultra sonic cleaner, eto, sterrad.
  • Responsible for accurate and meticulous documentation of all sterilizer charts, record books, and biological records.
  • Responsible for checking, resupplying and dispensing of reusable sterile and clean items to all units.
  • Responsible for understanding and appropriately following the hospital-wide Body Substance/Standard Precautions, Respiratory & AFB isolation protocols and to be compliant with the minimal protective barrier requirements for tasks performed in Central Sterile.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading all sterilizing and cleaning equipment to allow for proper steam or gas sterilization of all items.

Education and Experience Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Must complete requirements and obtain Certified/Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) within six months of employment.
