Position Overview

Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey company, is seeking a practice builder in Stormwater Management Engineering and Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) to join our Virginia Beach, Virginia team. The successful candidate will conduct ESC and SWM plan review, develop construction plans, perform design calculations, and assist the MS4 Stormwater Engineering Division Lead in Richmond with a variety of site/civil land development engineering projects for local government, higher education, and energy sectors. This division is based in our Richmond office, but requires additional support in the Hampton Roads region.

Job Duties

  • Meet with clients to prepare scopes of work and fee proposals.
  • Mentor existing staff and help build the local team.
  • Conduct Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) and Stormwater Management (SWM) plan reviews.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop concept plans, grading plans, and site designs.
  • Coordinate with counties and local municipalities.
  • Provide technical expertise in site/civil design, hydrology and hydraulics, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management.
  • Develop site layout plans in alignment with client requirements and WSSI standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure project objectives, including scope, schedule, and deliverables, are met in accordance with established performance metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain one within one year of employment.

  • Virginia DEQ ESC & SWM Plan Reviewer certifications.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of site plan review experience.

  • Proven experience interpreting Virginia codes, regulations, and site plans.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong organizational, time management, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment, while providing constructive feedback and direction to support team goals.
