Job Description

As a global leader in insurance broking and risk management, Marsh helps clients succeed by defining, designing, and delivering innovative, industry-specific solutions to effectively manage risk. Marsh is searching for an experienced Strategic Risk Advisor role in our Risk Consulting team.

This position can be based anywhere in the United States.

The candidate will lead our efforts around Fractional Risk Management outsourcing including owning and enhancing the services we offer, managing the team of consultants and contractors who deliver to ensure excellence in delivery, and overseeing projects to ensure profitability and accelerated growth. This leader will also work across our entire Risk Consulting team to engage a range of specialists to support risk management, risk control, and risk financing (to include traditional, captive, and alternative risk teams) for our clients. The advisor will leverage our Analytics teams to design and deploy solutions customized to each client's needs, including but not limited to risk management strategy design and deployment, risk program optimization, and deployment of suite of tools to reduce client total cost of risk (TCOR).

  • Drive talent excellence by prioritizing strategic recruiting, empowering early career development, and building strong foundations for career growth and succession planning.

  • Partner with client executives and client teams to identify critical paths for client risk program enhancements;

  • Interact with other Consulting team members, Account Owners and Brokers to design and promote client solutions.

What you need to have:

  • At least 15 years of risk management and consulting experience focused on reducing Total Cost of Risk.

  • Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams.

  • Skilled in recruiting, developing, and inspiring talent at all levels.

  • Track record of motivating teams to achieve excellence, collaboration and continuous professional growth.

  • Unwavering dedication to exceptional client delivery and excels in building strong, trusted client relationships.

  • Expert analytical skills to assess organizational dynamics, trends and identify key performance drivers.

  • Experience using analytics for risk management decision support.

  • Experience overseeing some aspects of global insurance program design and placement.

  • Captive insurance program knowledge.

  • Preferred combination of several tracks from Engineering, risk consulting, Retail Broker placement, underwriting, in-house risk management department (at least 2).

  • Insurance / Risk Management industry knowledge.

  • Skill in interacting with Client's Senior Management, Risk Management, Treasury and "C" suite.

  • Skill in sales situations with a track record of success in business development situations.

  • Risk Management Strategy design (preferably with some client side experience.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and processes and meet deadlines while working in a team environment.

  • General understanding of how to work with analytical teams and actuaries.

  • Understanding of Captive insurance vehicle program design and deployment.

  • Ability to assess client risk management processes and develop strategies for improvement.

  • Capable of working and managing across national time zone and remote work environments, at times working outside normal business hours.

  • Direct experience and full accountability for managing businesses under a Profit & Loss (P&L) statement.

Office-based teams will identify at least one "anchor day" per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $139,800 to $297,900.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
