Job Description

This role will report to the Director of Decision Science and is a part of the Data & Analytics organization within Business Technology (BT). BT powers Workiva's growth, enhances the employee experience, and boosts organizational productivity with tech-driven transformation and innovative solutions. The Data & Analytics team drives data-driven decisions and innovations across Workiva.

As a Strategy & Analytics Lead at Workiva, you will serve as a technical leader and strategic partner within the Decision Science team. While a Senior Analyst masters the how of data, a Lead Analyst defines the what and the why. You will operate at the intersection of deep technical architecture and executive-level business strategy, driving the evolution of our data ecosystem. You will be responsible for high-impact initiatives that influence the trajectory of our Data & Analytics organization, ensuring that our insights are not just accurate, but transformative.

What You'll Do

Advanced Data Strategy & Analysis

  • Architect Complex Insights: Lead the end-to-end design of sophisticated analytical frameworks. You won't just analyze datasets; you will define the methodologies that allow us to measure the health of the entire Workiva engine

  • Proactive Discovery: Act as a "data scout," identifying latent patterns and business risks before they reach the executive radar. You will move the organization from reactive reporting to predictive and prescriptive intelligence

  • Scale through Systems: Lead the design and evolution of our next-generation self-service data products, ensuring the architecture is robust, scalable, and intuitive for a global user base

Strategic Storytelling & Executive Influence

  • Narrative Leadership: Master the art of "data translation." You will craft and deliver compelling narratives to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), turning high-dimensional data into clear strategic bets

  • Decision Support: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing the analytical backbone for "big swing" organizational shifts in Sales, Finance, and Product

Global Stakeholder Engagement & Orchestration

  • Cross-Functional Catalyst: Bridge the gap between disparate business units GTM (Marketing, Customer Success, Finance, Marketing and ELT) to create a "single source of truth." You will facilitate alignment where business objectives might conflict

  • Requirements Visionary: Don't just take orders; consult with stakeholders to redefine their needs, ensuring that technical requirements align with long-term enterprise goals

Data Excellence, Governance & Culture

  • Guardianship: Set the gold standard for data integrity, security, and documentation. You will mentor others on the Decision Science team in best practices for data flow logic and reproducible research

  • Democratization & Mentorship: Partner with Data, Analytical Engineering, Data Product Managers and stakeholders to design curated data layers. You are a culture-carrier, mentoring senior and mid-level analysts to elevate the collective "data IQ" of the company

  • Innovation: Pioneer the adoption of new BI tools, ML integrations, and analytical methodologies to keep Workiva at the cutting edge of Business Technology

What You'll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related technical role

  • Deep understanding of SaaS business models and how analytics drives business outcomes

  • Experience leading cross-functional data projects in the technology sector

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Communication: Elite presentation skills; ability to command a room of executives and simplify the complex without losing the nuance

  • Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to manage high-ambiguity projects, balancing immediate business impact with long-term technical debt and scalability

  • Technical Mastery: Expert-level SQL and deep experience with modern data stacks (Snowflake, Airflow, dbt). High proficiency in Python or R for advanced automation and causal inference

  • Visualization Architecture: Expert ability to build "at-a-glance" executive dashboards and deep-dive exploratory tools using Tableau, Quicksight, or custom libraries

Travel Requirement & Working Conditions

  • For remote working opportunities, a stable internet connection is required

  • Occasional travel may be needed for team meetings, conferences, or company events

How You'll Be Rewarded

Salary range in the US: $129,000.00 - $207,000.00

A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package
