Job Description
WHO WE ARE
Mojo Supermarket is a fully integrated agency built on the creative philosophy "Break your Brain Good." We create work that rewires the way people think and helps brands solve their biggest business challenges. By combining strategic thinking with bold creative, we deliver ideas that generate outsized business results for clients including TikTok, Burger King, Chase, DoorDash, Ruggable, and more.
DESCRIPTION
Mojo is looking for a Strategy Director to help shape the strategic thinking that drives the most ambitious creative work in the industry. We're looking for people who are endlessly curious about culture, ask better questions than everyone else in the room, and believe strategy should unlock work people actually care about. And we're looking for people who know how to have a lot of fun.
This is a senior, hands-on role for someone with a strong foundation in brand strategy. You have the ability to apply your thinking across brand, comms, and social, using a deep understanding of audiences, culture, and business challenges to unlock meaningful business impact. You understand that strategy isn't the end product. It's what gives great creative work clarity, conviction, and direction. You'll help shape the strategic thinking behind some of Mojo's most ambitious work, partnering with leadership to influence clients, fuel new business, and continue raising the bar for strategy across the agency.
You don't just follow culture. You stay ahead of it. Your curiosity about behaviors, creators, communities, platforms, technologies, and conversations helps you spot what's becoming relevant before everyone else, turning cultural signals into opportunities for brands.
You'll lead strategy across key client engagements, partner closely with creative and account teams, and translate complex challenges into clear, provocative direction that unlocks exceptional creative work. You'll report to the Head of Strategy while managing and mentoring teammates, helping shape how strategy is practiced across our growing team.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead strategy across major client engagements and new business pitches, facilitating workshops, shaping creative direction, and presenting recommendations that influence clients and inspire exceptional creative work.
- Develop brand platforms, positioning, audience frameworks, messaging, and strategic narratives that create a clear foundation for breakthrough creative work.
- Translate business challenges, research, audience understanding, and cultural signals into concise, inspiring creative briefs and clear strategic direction.
- Bring a strong point of view on how brands earn relevance today, including the role of culture, community, creators, social platforms, media behavior, and emerging formats.
- Partner closely with creative leadership to challenge and elevate ideas, pushing work beyond the brief toward ideas that earn attention, influence culture, and drive business impact.
- Work across brand, campaign, social, and content assignments, applying the right strategic approach to each challenge.
- Build trusted relationships with senior clients by bringing thoughtful perspectives, challenging assumptions constructively, and helping clients make smarter decisions.
- Contribute to new business efforts, including strategic framing, insight development, creative briefing, and compelling pitch storytelling.
- Stay ahead of cultural shifts, consumer behavior, media, technology, and the categories our clients operate in; identifying opportunities before they become obvious and turning them into actionable strategic recommendations.
- Mentor and develop junior members of the strategy team, fostering growth while maintaining a high standard of strategic excellence.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
In the first 6–12 months, you will have:
- Become a trusted strategic partner to key clients and internal creative leaders.
- Helped create sharper, more differentiated brand and campaign work on priority accounts.
- Raised the quality of briefs, presentations, and strategic storytelling across the team.
- Provided meaningful day-to-day support and development to a Senior Strategist or junior strategist.
- Expanded Mojo’s ability to move fluidly from brand platform to communications, social, and cultural activation.
Requirements
SKILLS
- 8+ years of experience in strategy at a creative, brand, communications, social, or integrated agency.
- Deep experience in brand strategy, including positioning, audience definition, brand architecture, messaging, and platform development.
- A meaningful second discipline in communications planning, social strategy, cultural strategy, media behavior, or digital experience.
- Experience leading strategy on consumer-facing brands, ideally including beauty, wellness, personal care, food and beverage, retail, lifestyle, or other high-consideration, culturally relevant categories.
- Strong strategic judgment paired with the curiosity and humility to evolve your thinking as new information emerges.
- A track record of making strategy that creatives want to make, not strategy that only works in a deck.
- Excellent writing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
- Experience managing, mentoring, or meaningfully developing at least one more junior strategist.
- Comfort moving between long-term brand questions and fast-moving campaign, social, and content needs.
- Intellectual generosity, low ego, and a willingness to get into the work.
