The Director of Strategy plays a critical role in shaping the company's long‑term direction by leading enterprise‑level strategic planning and decision support for senior leadership. This role partners closely with Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and functional leaders to translate macro trends, competitive dynamics, and portfolio priorities into actionable strategies that drive sustainable growth and margin improvement.
As a core member of the Strategy and Corporate Development team, this leader works with the CEO and executive staff to facilitate strategy development, alignment, and deployment across the enterprise.
STRATEGIC IMPACT
This role exists to elevate how the enterprise thinks, plans, and acts over the long term. The Director of Strategy helps senior leaders step above day‑to‑day execution to think more holistically about the business, connect insights across silos, and focus on the most material opportunities to drive future growth. This person will operate as a player-coach by both building key strategies and developing strategic capability within the broader Polaris team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Enterprise Strategic Planning
Lead Long‑Range Planning (LRP) and Long‑Range Product Planning (LRPP) processes, elevating strategic rigor and alignment across SBUs through best‑in‑class frameworks and coaching.
Build project teams to address critical strategic challenges and drive alignment with senior executive leaders
Strategic Insight & Analysis
Shape strategic focus through macro trend research, scenario planning, competitive analysis, and war‑gaming to anticipate future business environments.
Drive corporate portfolio priorities and ensure alignment with overall business objectives
Executive & Board Engagement
Influence executive decision making through well-crafted presentations, business cases and facilitation of senior leadership and Board discussions.
Cultivate and sustain strategic partnerships in partnership with key business leaders to drive customer centric innovation and growth
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Required Qualifications
8+ years of progressive experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, or equivalent roles.
Proven ability to influence senior executives and lead complex decisions in a matrixed organization.
Exceptional executive‑level communication and storytelling skills.
Excellent team building and leadership skills
Ability to navigate a fast-paced, performance-oriented culture while maintaining highly collaborative relationships
Bias for action, especially in ambiguous situations
Preferred Experience
MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
Experience in industrial manufacturing or branded consumer goods environments.
Background in management consulting at the engagement manager level.

The starting pay range for Minnesota is $197,000 to $244,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.
