JOB SUMMARY:The Design Engineer position is responsible for developing product specifications and designs, and for interfacing with customers and team members to deliver products that meet customer orders.  Position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of duties, including, but not limited to, the following:
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Read, interpret, and understand architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Develop product drawings that meet all applicable design codes and customer specifications.
  • Collaborate with the different disciplines within the Engineering department.
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using 2D & 3D CAD software (Autodesk AutoCAD & Inventor).
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work.
  • Complete projects based on priorities set by the Engineering Director
  • Work alongside project managers on the shop floor to successfully monitor progress and implementation of engineering projects
  • Responsible for working according to the company’s safety and quality standards.
  • Perform*//other related duties as required and or as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Work Experience:  Must have 2-5 years of experience working in an engineering environment.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field
Related Experience:
  • Firm grasp of engineering concepts and experience designing mechanical systems and products
  • Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems.
  • Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Familiar with industry building codes
  • Familiarity with State Building Codes is desired.
  • Professional license is desired or willing to pursue license as required to support project requirements.
  • Understands engineering design principles to guide designers and drafters.
  • Must be detail oriented and familiar with interpreting drawings and shop details.
  • Must have a good attendance record and have a strong sense of personal responsibility.
  • Self-motivated and works well with or without supervision.
  • Good organizational skills and a methodical approach to work.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights.  When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
