Job Position: Structured Cabling & Communications Systems

Location: College Station, TX 77843

Pay Rate: $22 $28/hrTradeSTAR is hiring experienced Telecom Technicians for commercial telecommunications and structured cabling projects throughout the College Station area. These positions support commercial construction, higher education facilities, healthcare environments, industrial sites, and enterprise network infrastructure deployments.We are seeking technicians with experience in structured cabling, fiber optic installations, telecommunications room buildouts, and commercial network infrastructure projects.Job Responsibilities Install, route, and support voice, data, and telecommunications cabling systems Pull Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, single-mode fiber, and multi-mode fiber through conduit, cable tray, ladder rack, and J-hook pathways Terminate copper cabling on patch panels, keystone jacks, 110 blocks, and telecommunications hardware Install, terminate, and test fiber optic backbone and horizontal distribution systems Build and dress MDFs, IDFs, network racks, ladder rack systems, and cable management infrastructure Perform cable certification and troubleshooting using Fluke test equipment Conduct fiber testing utilizing OTDRs, power meters, and light source testing equipment Install wireless access point cabling and support network infrastructure deployments Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, riser diagrams, rack elevations, and telecommunications drawings Label, document, and maintain cabling infrastructure in accordance with ANSI/TIA standards Troubleshoot connectivity issues, cable faults, and infrastructure deficiencies Maintain quality control standards and ensure all installations meet project specifications Technical Requirements Experience with commercial telecommunications or structured cabling installations Knowledge of copper and fiber optic infrastructure systems Experience terminating and testing voice and data cabling Understanding of MDF/IDF environments and telecommunications room standards Ability to read construction documents, network drawings, and cable schedules Familiarity with ANSI/TIA standards and structured cabling best practices Ability to work from ladders and lifts in active commercial environments Reliable transportation and industry-standard hand tools required Preferred Experience Fluke DSX cable certification testing OTDR testing and fiber troubleshooting Fusion splicing Higher education, healthcare, industrial, or enterprise network environments BICSI training or certifications Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Weekly pay Overtime opportunities Long-term commercial project opportunities Career advancement within the telecommunications and low-voltage industry If you are an experienced Telecom Technician looking to work on advanced communications infrastructure projects in the College Station area, apply today.TradeSTAR Austin Office305 N.
