Substance Abuse Counselor

About the Role: In this role, you'll provide individualized support, evidence-based treatment, and compassionate guidance to clients navigating substance use and recovery. You'll work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team while making a meaningful impact in your community.

Schedule: Part-Time

Program: Drug & Alcohol/DUI Treatment Program

Compensation: Starting at $19+/hour (based on experience and credentials)

What You'll Do

• Conduct substance use assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling services as clinically appropriate.

• Support clients through case management, crisis intervention, and recovery planning.

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

• Collaborate with treatment providers, community partners, and support systems to coordinate care.

• Facilitate group sessions and educational programming that support recovery goals.

• Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.

• Deliver high-quality, client-centered services in accordance with best practices, regulatory requirements, and agency standards.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health-related field; OR

• High school diploma/equivalent combined with qualifying experience and/or required certifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of documented experience in substance abuse treatment

• Certification in addiction counseling a plus!

MUST HAVE:

• Strong assessment, counseling, and case management abilities

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

• Commitment to client-centered, trauma-informed care

• Experience working in substance use treatment settings, with an understanding of addiction, recovery principles, and evidence-based interventions.

• Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams

• Clearances:

• Pennsylvania Act 33 & 34 Clearances

• FBI Fingerprinting Clearance

• Verification of no exclusions from Medicaid/Medicare

Note: At the discretion of the Personnel Officer, additional related experience and/or education may be substituted for the requirements specified under Education and Experience
