Job Description

NHTI – Concord’s Community CollegePosition Type: Part-time, adjunctSemester: Summer 2026 Compensation: $825 - $975 per credit, based on adjunct faculty rank (determined by education and experience)

Position Overview: NHTI is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach BIOL 202C Microbiology. This in-person course provides students with essential knowledge in the fundamentals of microbiology, focusing on practical applications and real-world relevance.

Course Description: Lectures focus on three major areas: basic concepts of microbiology, including morphology and physiology of prokaryotes, eukaryotes, and viruses; host resistance to disease and immunology; and epidemiology of selected diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, and parasitic worms. Labs focus on three major areas: basic skills such as staining, microscopy, and isolation techniques; bacterial physiology as is pertinent to identification of bacterial species; and control of microorganisms via chemotherapeutic agents, physical means, and chemical disinfectants. Prerequisite: BIOL112C: General Biology I with a grade of C or higher or BIOL 196C Anatomy & Physiology II with a grade of C or higher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach the assigned course using provided curriculum and instructional materials aligned with program standards.
  • Facilitate class discussions, assignments, and assessments to foster student engagement and learning.
  • Provide regular feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Maintain professional currency in the field and comply with college policies and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in science (or a minimum of 12 graduate-level credits) required.
  • Experience: Prior teaching experience and familiarity with Canvas (or similar LMS) preferred.
  • Residency: Must reside in NH, VT, ME, MA, RI, or CT.
