Job Description

Program dates: June 1st, 2026 - End date: August 6th, 2026

Location: Philadelphia Office, Hybrid (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday on-site)

Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.

Weekly schedule: 28 hours per week, 9:00am-5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break.

Pay rate: $17.00/hour

As an HBG Marketing and Publicity Intern at Running Press (located in HBG's Philadelphia office), you will work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on experience by supporting day-to-day marketing and publicity tasks, contributing to special projects, and attending departmental meetings.

As part of the program, the hybrid summer intern will complete a project focused on optimizing and expanding our Amazon merchandising strategy by assisting with the development of Amazon A+ Content Detail pages, the Running Press Amazon Storefront, and Brand Story modules. The intern will conduct competitive research, help draft design briefs, and coordinate with marketers and designers to support content development.

In addition, the intern will assist in preparing materials for upcoming sales conferences and meetings, including collaborating on sales materials and helping develop PowerPoint presentations. The role also includes supporting select publicity initiatives and administrative tasks to gain a broad understanding of marketing and publicity within a publishing environment.

Who you are:

  • Interested in exploring a career in non-fiction or licensed publishing
  • Interest in digital marketing, e-commerce, or online retail platforms such as Amazon
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when proofreading marketing and sales materials
  • Comfortable working in PowerPoint and collaborating with designers to develop marketing and sales materials
  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Possess a great attitude and a desire to learn as well as excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute insights
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Enthusiastic about books and eager to discuss recent reads

What you will:

  • Support the expansion of Running Press's Amazon merchandising strategy, including work with A+ Content, Brand Story modules, and storefront updates
  • Collect, analyze, and report on web traffic data and performance
  • Help develop documentation and best practices for Amazon merchandising
  • Support marketing and publicity efforts related to upcoming sales meetings and conferences
  • Draft press releases
  • Assist with weekly publicity communications and reporting
  • Assist with mailings as requested
  • Perform general administrative duties
