Summer Enrichment Instructional Coach (Temporary, Multiple Openings)

Job Description

The Robinson Center (RC) offers two summer enrichment programs: 

• Summer Challenge, for students currently in the 5th-6th grade. It runs Monday through Friday, July 6 to July 24 (15 days) 

• Summer Stretch, for students currently in the 7th-10th grade. It runs Monday through Thursday, June 30 to July 23 (15 days) 

The RC is seeking Instructional Coaches to deliver specialized support to instructors and students in summer enrichment courses and to create inclusive, engaging, and effective learning environments. This position is grounded in our core values: honor and sustain the multiplicity of identities that enter the classroom; design and maintain inclusive learning environments that benefit all; and ensure emotional and physical well-being.  

This role, under the guidance of the Program Manager for Teaching and Learning, will create student-centered, inclusive classrooms that meet the needs of all learners by providing instructional coaching, curriculum writing support, co-teaching and active problem solving. They will also support the implementation of professional learning for instructors and classroom assistants, and contribute to continuous program improvement through reflection, system building and data-informed decision-making. 

This is a fee-based position, with expected deliverables in May and June and exclusively in-person work in July. Compensation is determined by experience and subject-matter expertise. The pay ranges from $5,000 to $6,000. 

Key deliverables:  

• Student-facing instruction and lesson planning 

• Onboarding and professional development  

• Curriculum review and development 

• Instructional coaching and student support  

On-site requirements and schedule will be defined and communicated in advance based on the assigned courses.  

Teaching & Learning: Planning, Instruction & Assessment- 85%

• Maintaining a safe and engaging classroom environment for all students. 

• Developing and implementing classroom and instructional design support (scaffolding, differentiation) for the assigned courses.  

• Producing course deliverables, including but not limited to behavioral intervention plans and differentiating lesson plans/curriculum. 

• Reviewing student accommodation requests and preparing individualized support plans. 

• Delivering differentiated classroom instructions to meet the needs of all learners.

• Supporting instructors with SEL implementation, accessibility accommodations, and cultural responsiveness.

• Communication with families about individualized student support and intervention.

• Subbing for other teaching staff as needed.

Program Support, Administrative Tasks & Professional Development- 15%

• Attending all required professional development training (two virtual events during May and June; two in-person events in July).

• Attending staff orientation prior to the start of the Summer Program (an in-person event at the end of June).

• Completing all required HR and new hire training, including those provided by the UW’s Office of the Youth Protection Coordinator.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.

• 2+ years of teaching experience in K–12 or enrichment learning environments.

• Ability to attend all class sessions and staff training. 

Equivalent education and experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum, Instruction, or a related field. 

• Formal training in instructional coaching or teacher mentoring. 

• Experience teaching accelerated learners. 

• Experience working with diverse student populations, including neurodivergent learners. 

• Experience in instructional mentorship, and/or curriculum design. 

• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and SEL frameworks in practice. 

• Fluency in multiple languages.
