Summer IT Intern

Position Description

This intern role supports the research, prototyping, and implementation of large language models and intelligent automation tools to meet organizational business requirements. This includes writing, testing, and documenting software integrations that leverage local AI frameworks and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows. This role will also research emerging model capabilities, design system prompts, and modify existing application specifications to enhance data accessibility and digital compliance throughout the project life cycle.

This position will be on-site in Lubbock, TX and will start on June 1, 2026 and end on July 31, 2026

Major/Essential Functions

• Research, develop, and test software prototypes that integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows into existing business applications.
• Write, debug, and maintain application code using modern programming languages and frameworks while adhering to established security protocols and coding best practices.
• Conduct ongoing research into emerging AI models, software development techniques, and automation tools to evaluate their feasibility and potential impact on organizational workflows.

Visa Information
