Job Description

SuperintendentThe superintendent will be responsible for:Lead all day-to-day field operations for healthcare construction projects from groundbreaking through final turnover

Oversee and coordinate all subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and self-perform crews to ensure project milestones are achieved

Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules and actively monitor project progress against the master schedule

Ensure all construction activities are performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, contract documents, and applicable codes

Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements while fostering a culture of safety on-siteConduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections to maintain a safe work environment

Manage quality control processes and verify that all work meets healthcare construction standards and owner expectations

Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities with authorities having jurisdiction and project stakeholders

Work closely with project management teams to identify and resolve schedule, budget, and constructability challenges

Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and ensure timely completion of project activities

Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings to identify potential issues before they impact construction

Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, owners, and healthcare facility representatives throughout the project lifecycle

Monitor labor production, manpower levels, and equipment utilization to maximize project efficiency

Manage procurement and delivery of materials, ensuring timely availability to support construction activities

Identify and proactively resolve field conflicts, design discrepancies, and unforeseen site conditions

Coordinate installation of complex healthcare systems, including MEP infrastructure, medical gases, nurse call systems, and specialty equipment

Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM), and project-specific healthcare requirements

Maintain accurate daily reports, progress documentation, safety records, and project logs

Support cost control efforts through effective planning, productivity management, and resource allocation

Verify subcontractor work is completed according to project requirements and approved quality standards

Coordinate owner-furnished equipment deliveries and installation activities

Assist with project phasing, shutdowns, tie-ins, and occupancy planning for active healthcare facilities

Facilitate punch list completion and ensure timely project closeout and turnover documentation

Mentor, train, and develop field personnel while promoting accountability and teamwork

Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, healthcare administrators, trade partners, and project stakeholders

Hospital, MOB, or other Healthcare projects $15M+Self-perform experience preferred

Complete understanding of the construction process

Must be proficient in reviewing and understanding all construction documents including specifications and drawings

Excellent communication skills with various parties including management, subcontractors, consultants, architects, vendors, and clients

Self-motivatedProficient in Microsoft Office applications

Willing to take on multiple responsibilities and complete a variety of tasks to complete projects on time

Experience managing all phases of healthcare construction from sitework through project closeout

Proven track record of delivering healthcare projects safely, on schedule, and within budget

Strong knowledge of healthcare codes, regulations, and accreditation requirements including Joint Commission standards

Experience working in active healthcare environments with minimal disruption to patients, staff, and operations

Ability to develop, manage, and maintain detailed project schedules

Expertise in coordinating and supervising subcontractors, field personnel, and self-perform crews

Strong understanding of infection control risk assessments (ICRA) and interim life safety measures (ILSM)Ability to identify and proactively resolve field conflicts and constructability issues

Experience leading daily subcontractor meetings, safety meetings, and owner coordination meetings

Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and commitment to maintaining a safe jobsite

Skilled in quality control procedures and ensuring compliance with project specifications

Experience with healthcare-specific systems including medical gas, nurse call, imaging equipment, and complex MEP installations preferred

Ability to read and interpret project schedules, look-ahead plans, and manpower forecasts

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive project performance

Experience using construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or Microsoft ProjectAbility to manage inspections, testing, commissioning, and occupancy turnover processes

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities

Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners

Experience coordinating owner-furnished equipment and healthcare technology installations preferred

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, but not required based on experience

Willingness to travel or work extended hours as project demands require

Demonstrated commitment to company culture, professionalism, and client satisfaction

The superintendent will be offered:$110,000 - $130,000 base salary dependent on experience$600 car allowance or company vehicle
