Job Description:

Pharmacy Technician Supervisor

General Summary:Supervises the Pharmacy Technician staff. Performs various administrative functions to support inventory maintenance, billing compliance and purchasing. When needed, work as a staff level Pharmacy Technician. 

Desired/Required Qualifications:

Education:  Licensed Michigan Pharmacy Technician.  Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration preferred.

Experience: Prior experience in a retail and/or infusion pharmacy.  Oncology and management experience preferred.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Manage Pharmacy Technicians workloads to include assigning and reassigning tasks to obtain optimal technician team performance.

  • Monitors Pharmacy Technician staff performance and documents noteworthy instances.  In partnership with management, writes formal performance reviews and discusses with employee.  In collaboration with management, take corrective action in the event of substandard technician performance, conduct, attendance or punctuality. 

  • Oversees Pharmacy Technician staff scheduling to include oversight of time and travel reimbursement records.  Processes time reporting, time off requests and travel reimbursement requests in compliance with department and organizational policies and practices.  This will include, but not limited to, working normally scheduled Pharmacy Tech schedule shifts, facilitating technician coverage for vacation/sick calls, and personally providing coverage in the event that other options are exhausted. 

  • Assist in training new technicians to ensure their compliance with policy and procedures.

  • Interpret and analyze detailed pharmacy reports from software applications for further evaluation by the Pharmacy Management. Current operating systems applicable to infusion or retail include NRx Retail Pharmacy System (QS/1), Oncology Supply’s Nucleus and OncoEMR.   

  • Assist in reconciliation of retail pharmacy claims and payments.
