Job Profile Summary
Supervises daily activities for all pharmacy technicians and coordinates daily pharmacy operations. Recruits, retains, and trains pharmacy technician personnel. Responsible for departmental regulatory compliance, quality and performance improvement, diversion and customer satisfaction. Functions within the guidelines of all state and federal pharmacy legislation and statutes. Manages the development and implementation of new policies, procedures and new services and technologies/automation. Pharmacy department IT liaison responsible for managing all operations-based technology functions, implementation of new technology, vendor relations, and issue resolution.

Mon- Fri- 7:00am- 3:30pm
One week of call 3-4 times a year.
This position will oversee all of the CAHs (Berlin, New London, Shawano, Waupaca, Wild Rose).
Key Accountabilities:
Works with the pharmacy manager on departmental goal setting and strategic planning. Responsible for management of pharmacy strategic and special projects including pilots, training, implementation, and site based/enterprise roll out. Oversees the daily workflow of technicians and looks for opportunities to support career growth and improve safety and efficacy. Consults with other departments in matters related to provision of pharmacy services. Acts as an information resource regarding pharmacy operations to all interdisciplinary healthcare team members. Manages the development and implementation of policies and procedures and provides operational support to pharmacy locations across Froedtert ThedaCare Health.
Interviews and hires new staff. Coordinates and conducts new employee orientation, onboarding evaluations, routine touch base conversations, and annual performance evaluations. Handles corrective action and coaching as necessary. Leads and coordinates staff development and competencies to meet various regulatory standards (e.g., USP 795). Assists with development of staffing schedules and ensures adequate staffing daily.
Assists in budget planning and monthly review of budgets. Takes an active role in the development and implementation of cost containment measures to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and support hospital-wide cost savings. Balancing patient care needs and fiscal responsibility, monitors and maintains medication inventory, including but not limited to: par levels, stocking locations, dosage strengths/forms, and associated supplies. Reviews departmental fiscal performance and implements targeted actions to meet organizational and department goals. Works with the Pharmacy Leadership Team to adjust staffing based on workload demands and targeted productivity levels.
In conjunction with the Pharmacy Leadership Team, manages various pharmacy technology and automation systems, which includes evaluation and implementation of new technology, optimization of current technology, vendor relations, operational support, downtime procedures, and issue resolution. Coordinates technology upgrades as needed. Implements and educates staff on new procedures and equipment.
Evaluates, develops, and implements policies and procedures to ensure department compliance with various regulatory agencies, such as the Joint Commission and CMS. Assists in the data collection and the development, reporting, and ongoing implementation of Quality, Safety, Efficacy, and Performance Improvement.
Foster clear and consistent communication within the pharmacy team to coordinate workload, resolve issues, and maintain workflow efficiency. Address and resolve inquiries and concerns related to medication orders, availability, or delivery in a professional and empathetic manner. Serve as a liaison between pharmacy and other care teams (e.g., nursing) to ensure accurate medication preparation and delivery. Monitor service metrics and implement strategies for improving turnaround time, communication, and patient experience.
Assumes a leadership role in the absence of the pharmacy manager. Participates as an active member on department, hospital, and enterprise-wide committee and workgroups, as appropriate.
Qualifications:
A minimum of four years of pharmacy technician work experience is required. Leadership experience in pharmacy services or experience as a lead technician, educator, or trainer in Pharmacy is required.
Formal people leadership experience preferred. Quality improvement, process improvement, project management, strong knowledge in compounding, regulatory standards, and medication distribution systems, team building, and problem-solving experience is preferred.
Associate's Degree or equivalent experience (two years of leadership in pharmacy) required.
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or a related field. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) certification (e.g., Advanced/Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) preferred.
Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through passing the Pharmacy Technician Certification Boards exam (PTCE) or the National Health career Associations exam (ExCPT) is required. Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician registration through DSPS is required.
Physical Demands:
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties.

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
