Requirements and Competencies

  • Minimum 2 year accredited college degree in horticulture or related field required, (4 year degree preferred) or 5 years lead or supervisory experience in a theme park or resort.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's license and be able to meet company driving guidelines
  • Must have a good understanding of proper horticultural practice to include: hand watering, irrigation operation, fertilizer applications, shearing/pruning, basic tree care, landscape installation and mulching.
  • Must have a working knowledge and experience with hand and gas powered landscape tools, equipment and vehicles.
  • Must be able to operate a high front end loader/forklift
  • Ability to operate a high reach preferred
  • Self-motivated, team leader with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with ambassadors and guests
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis
  • Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights if needed
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying Florida weather, to include extreme heat. Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors and cold/heat temperature extremes
  • Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks(use of tools/keyboard/writing)
  • Perform all cleaning duties; including use of cleaning chemicals
  • Must be flexible in work locations as placement will depend on business needs and career development opportunities
  • A level of comfort with computer skills including Microsoft Office programs
  • Must be able to work varying shifts or hours based on park hours, weekends, holidays, weather events, etc. i.e. be able to respond when needed to prepare for or recover from a storm event or damaging frost/freeze event, etc.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish-English) preferred
  • Assist other park landscape teams as situation requires.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Horticulture operations in your assigned area as it is related to its detail, efficiency and quality appearance; also, the area's proper maintenance and our team member and guest safety.
  • Apply pesticides as needed (mostly Round Up)
  • Work in a team environment and interact with others in a professional manner
  • Provide technical assistance and support to staff while ensuring proper horticultural practices are followed
  • Responsible for providing proper training to staff
  • Develop and oversee safety program for staff
  • Perform other duties to include the supervision of other crews and or other related tasks as assigned by management.
  • Other duties as assigned based on business need

Compensation: $17.00 per hour
