The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, has an exciting full time opportunity for Supervisor, Ophthalmic Imaging in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The Supervisor, Ophthalmic Imaging manages staff, equipment, and other resources for the timely delivery of advanced ophthalmological testing. He/she provides supervision of technical staff based upon specific areas assigned.

Core Job Functions:

  • Provides day-to-day direction to the ophthalmic photographer and ophthalmic echographer staff in support areas, as assigned.

  • Adjusts daily schedules based on patient schedules, available staffing, and patient flow in the clinic areas.

  • Responds to clinical and patient demands throughout the day to provide efficient staff utilization and maintain patient flow and consistency.

  • Prepares staffing assignments to include accommodations for the clinical research study patients.

  • Possesses broad clinical experience to supervise and perform ophthalmic imaging evaluations as needed.

  • Manages equipment and capital assets including, but not limited to, maintenance needs, software upgrades, purchase requests, installations, equipment retirement, inventory assessment, and capital replacement planning.

  • Maintains a strong understanding of the clinical information systems that support the technical functions.

  • Manages the interview, hire, and onboarding processes of new hire imaging staff.

  • Mentors staff to foster growth and development opportunities within the organization.

  • Identifies training needs of the staff and provides training opportunities to maintain competency.

  • Monitors staff productivity and performance goals.

  • Ensures daily operation of clinical areas meets the needs of the patients and physicians, and is provided according to the accepted standards of care.

  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.

  • Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Associate degree in relevant field

Certification and Licensing:

Certification OCT-C and CRA

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:

  • Knowledge of business and management principles.

  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.

  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.

  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.

  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
