Job Description

Supervisor of Trade Theory Training Instructors for the Naval Shipyard Institute (NSI)

ORBIS is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team. This role requires a proactive leader who can ensure the successful delivery of training programs, fostering the development of skilled professionals within the naval shipyard.

Duties Include:

ORBIS liaison with shipyard or other Trade Theory Training (TTT) location staff.
Oversee and coordinate the delivery of on-the-job training using mock-ups, simulators, and demonstrations (shipboard or shop-based).
Ensure that instructors effectively communicate operations, material requirements, and safety protocols to trainees.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of instructors and provide guidance to enhance training effectiveness.
Collaborate with trade experts to update training materials and methodologies as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage a diverse team of instructors.
Ability to develop and implement training strategies that align with industry standards and shipyard requirements.
Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration between instructors and other departments.
Familiarity with the technical aspects of at least one trade, such as electrical systems, machining, or welding processes, is advantageous.
Experience in supervising and coordinating training programs.
10 years of direct experience in at least one of the trades being supervised in the NSI program (Marine Electrician, Machinist, Marine Machinist, Welder).
High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
U.S. citizenship.
Eligible for a secret security clearance.
