Job Description
OverviewThe Supplier Process Engineer is responsible for evaluating and improving processes and products related to surface treatments, precision cleaning, and micro-contamination control. This role serves as the primary point of contact (SPOC) between Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Suppliers, driving supplier development, quality improvements, and new product/process introduction.Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary interface (SPOC) for supply chain projects involving surface treatment and fabrication suppliers
- Lead supplier-related initiatives including process development, failure analysis (FA), and customer escalations related to contamination (inorganic, organic, particle) and material issues
- Ensure supplier manufacturing processes are capable of producing reliable, repeatable products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Field Service, and Suppliers) during new product and process development
- Manage supplier selection, qualification, and performance through site visits, audits, and ongoing evaluations
- Design and execute experiments; analyze data and provide actionable recommendations
- Apply structured problem-solving methodologies to define issues, assess risks, and drive resolution (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, RCCA)
- Implement process control techniques (e.g., Six Sigma) to improve production efficiency and product quality
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of experience (BS) or 2+ years (MS) in process development, manufacturing engineering, or supplier engineering
- Experience in precision cleaning, surface treatment, and/or metal fabrication processes; semiconductor industry experience preferred
- Hands-on experience with failure analysis and contamination control (inorganic, organic, particle)
- Working knowledge of:
- GD&T
- Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Root Cause Analysis (RCCA, 8D, 5 Whys)
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience leading cross-functional projects and driving issue resolution
- Ability to travel within the U.S.
- 5+ years of experience in precision cleaning and metal fabrication within high-volume manufacturing (semiconductor preferred)
- Proven experience managing suppliers and leading cross-functional teams to resolve contamination and material-related issues
- Experience identifying and mitigating technical and operational supply chain risks
