Supply Chain Analytics Consultant
Starr & Associates (S&A) is a full-service business consulting firm delivering advisory and execution support across complex supply chain, operations, data analytics, and technology domains.
The Supply Chain Analytics Consultant is a specialized consulting role focused on transforming operational supply chain data into meaningful insights that support improved decision making and performance management. This role supports client engagements by combining structured analytical methods with strong operational awareness to evaluate supplier performance, inventory levels, capacity constraints, and logistics performance.
Working closely with supply chain leaders, operations teams, and technology partners, the Supply Chain Analytics Consultant analyzes operational data, develops analytics solutions, and translates findings into actionable insights that improve supply chain performance. Leveraging 5+ years of supply chain, operations, or analytics experience, this role supports initiatives focused on supplier reliability, inventory optimization, demand planning, logistics performance, and supply chain visibility.
This position serves as a bridge between business operations, analytics teams, and technology stakeholders to ensure that data driven insights translate into measurable operational improvements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supply Chain Analytics & Insight Development: Analyze supply chain data across procurement, inventory, logistics, and production environments to identify trends, risks, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Advanced Analytics & Modeling: Apply advanced analytical techniques including predictive analysis, statistical analysis, trend modeling, and scenario analysis to support forecasting, inventory planning, supplier performance monitoring, and operational risk identification.
- Dashboard Development & Visualization: Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports that communicate supply chain insights clearly to executive and operational stakeholders.
- Visualization Design: Apply data visualization best practices to create intuitive and visually effective dashboards that highlight operational performance metrics such as supplier reliability, lead times, service levels, inventory turns, and capacity utilization.
- Analytical Requirements Definition: Lead structured working sessions with stakeholders to gather and document analytical and reporting requirements, translating business needs into effective dashboard designs and analytics solutions.
- Data Collaboration: Partner closely with Data Engineers and technical teams to ensure dashboards and analytical models are built on accurate, well structured, and validated data sources.
- Operational Data Interpretation: Translate large operational data sets into meaningful insights that help business stakeholders understand supply chain risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
- User Experience & Dashboard Design: Design dashboards with usability, navigation, and stakeholder consumption patterns in mind to support both operational monitoring and executive reporting.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize Power BI models, queries, and visuals to ensure strong performance, scalability, and usability.
- Validation & Testing: Validate analytical outputs and dashboard metrics against source data and business expectations to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Review: Support review sessions with stakeholders, present insights, and incorporate feedback into dashboard enhancements and analytical outputs.
- Consulting Deliverables: Develop clear, professional, executive ready deliverables including performance reports, analytical summaries, and presentation materials.
- Consulting Engagement Support: Operate effectively within a client facing consulting delivery environment while supporting complex supply chain transformation and analytics initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, operations analytics, or data analytics environments. Previous consulting experience is strongly preferred.
- Supply Chain Knowledge: Strong understanding of supply chain processes including procurement, supplier management, demand planning, inventory management, logistics, and operations performance measurement.
- Analytics & Visualization Expertise: Strong experience designing and developing Power BI dashboards and analytical reporting solutions.
- Advanced Analytics Skills: Experience applying advanced analytics techniques such as predictive analysis, statistical analysis, trend analysis, or scenario modeling to operational or supply chain data.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Power BI, Microsoft Excel (Advanced), and PowerPoint.
- Data Understanding: Strong understanding of data models, analytical concepts, and SQL based data sources.
- Project Methodologies: Working knowledge of Waterfall and Agile project frameworks with the ability to support defined workstreams effectively.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree required (Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Analytics, or related field preferred).
Nice to Have Skills (Preferred, Not Required)
- Experience designing dashboards for executive or leadership audiences.
- Familiarity with Power BI data modeling and DAX.
- Experience performing predictive analytics, forecasting analysis, or operational scenario modeling.
- Exposure to ERP platforms such as SAP (S4HANA, IBP), Oracle SCM, or similar enterprise systems.
- Experience supporting supplier performance analytics, inventory optimization, or logistics performance initiatives.
- Experience working within cross functional consulting delivery teams or large-scale client programs.
