Job Description:

The Buyer/Production Planner is responsible for planning, prioritizing, and expediting assigned product families and their associated raw materials. This role develops and publishes production schedules that account for forecasted and promotional demand, plant capacity, product mix, and material availability to ensure on-time delivery to customers. The position also manages all day-to-day activities related to assigned raw materials.

Due to the nature of this role, frequent interaction with departments across the organization is required, along with close collaboration with corporate counterparts.

This job description outlines the primary responsibilities of the position; additional duties may be assigned as business needs evolve.

You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain the production plan for finished goods and subassemblies based on WOS goals, defined run strategies, equipment, labor and raw material availability reconciling any known disruptions ahead of the production start date
    • Collaborate with Corporate Supply/Demand Planning on Promotion coordination and execution
    • Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP).  Understand capacity in area of influence and identify time periods when capacity could impact Operations ability to meet demand or need for additional work
    • Actively support cradle to grave product management reducing risk of supply disruption and end of life excess and obsolescence
    • Coordinates the planning and implementation of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and deviations
  • Purchase Order Management
    • Release, confirm, and actively reschedule, and cancel raw material purchase orders for product families assigned, managing all day-to-day activities and escalating roadblocks to Manager
  • Execute and administer inventory initiatives and implement best practices
    • Maintain proper inventory levels, recommend and preserve safety stock for raw materials
    • Assist in achieving inventory turnover goals
    • Collaborate with suppliers and Operations on visual management, Kanban, VMI, Vending, and Consigned Inventory

The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a business-related field and a minimum of 1 year Supply Chain experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills required
  • Strong organizational skills and a stellar attention to detail are essential
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
