Job Description

Lead sourcing activities for new product development (NPD) and product changes across all categories, ensuring an efficient balance between cost, technical feasibility, quality, and supply resilience. Act as the link between Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Operations, and suppliers to ensure components are sourced, quoted, validated, and industrialized in line with project timing, cost, and quality expectations. Focus on early supplier involvement, RFQ coordination, manufacturability input, cost optimization, and supplier readiness for production launch.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

  • Cover System Protection product categories and supplier technologies, such as:

  • Sheet metal parts and assemblies.

  • Plastic and injection molded parts.

  • Gaskets, locking systems, fasteners, and standard hardware.

  • Coatings, painting, surface treatments, and external processing.

  • Packaging and logistics-related supplier services.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • NPD / Change Management (Core Focus)

  • Direct sourcing efforts for New product introduction (NPD / NPI)

  • Engineering changes and redesigns:

  • Ensure early sourcing involvement in the build phase (concept → prototype → SOP)

  • Define sourcing strategy per project (supplier, geography, dual sourcing)

  • Manage RFQ process and supplier nomination for all NPD components

  • Technical Sourcing:

  • Review technical requirements together with Engineering and suppliers

  • Provide sourcing insights regarding manufacturability, materials, process choice, and cost factors

  • Support design-to-cost and value engineering activities

  • Identify potential cost, tooling, process, or supplier risks during the project phase

  • Supplier Identification & Industrialization:

  • Identify potential suppliers based on project and technology needs

  • Support supplier capability review, onboarding, and approval activities

  • Coordinate supplier contributions concerning tooling, samples, PPAP / qualification, and ramp-up readiness

  • Follow up supplier actions during prototype, validation, and industrialization phases

  • Cost & Commercial Management (Project Level):

  • Prepare and coordinate RFQ packages with required technical and commercial information.

  • Collect, compare and summarize supplier quotations.

  • Support cost breakdown review and negotiations.

  • Track cost evolution versus project targets.

  • Identify supplier risks related to capacity, tooling, lead time, single sourcing or technology gaps.

  • Escalate critical risks and support mitigation actions.

  • Cross-functional Integration. Work closely with:

  • Engineering (build, specs, DFM)

  • Quality (supplier qualification, PPAP)

  • Operations (industrialization, capacity)

  • Product Management (project achievements)

  • Act as sourcing representative in the project core team

  • Governance & Tools:

  • Ensure compliance with sourcing processes and supplier approval requirements

  • Maintain sourcing documentation in systems (RFQ, supplier selection, approvals)

  • Track project benchmarks:

  • Cost vs. target

  • Timing

  • Supplier readiness

YOU HAVE:

  • Education:

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial, Materials or similar)

  • Experience:

  • 5-8 years in sourcing / supplier development / manufacturing engineering

  • Experience in multi-technology environment (not single category)

  • Exposure to NPD or industrialization processes

  • Good understanding of:

  • Manufacturing processes (metal, plastic, surface treatment, assembly)

  • Cost drivers across different technologies

  • Ability to read and interpret 2D/3D technical drawings

  • Strong capability in design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and cost optimization

Business & Soft Skills:

  • Strong stakeholder management across engineering and operations
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Problem-solving mindset, structured approach
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel
  • Fluent in Romanian & English
  • Ability to travel of around 20% working time
