Job Description

Solvay is all about chemistry. We're not just referring to chemical reactions here, but also to the magic that occurs when the brightest minds get to work together. This is where our true strength lies. In you. In your future colleagues and in all your differences. And of course, in your ideas to improve lives while preserving our planet's beauty for the generations to come.

About the role

Our Technical Maintenance and Reliability department, composed of over 100 people supports safe, reliable, and efficient operations through disciplined planning and execution of maintenance activities.

The Surface Maintenance Outage Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and scheduling detailed maintenance outage plans to ensure equipment reliability, operational continuity, and regulatory compliance. You will build comprehensive outage work packages, collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams, and ensure planned maintenance shutdowns are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards. This position also serves as the backup for the Maintenance Scheduler, supporting the gatekeeping process and helping maintain continuity of routine, planned, and corrective maintenance schedules.

You will be accountable for:

  • Scope Development & Work Preparation: Conduct site walkdowns to validate job scopes, identify hazards, determine permit requirements, and define resource needs. Develop complete work packages, including labor, materials, tools, contractors, and equipment.
  • Material & Contractor Coordination: Identify and procure materials, specialized tools, and contractor services. Coordinate delivery schedules to ensure all resources are staged and available prior to outage execution.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance leadership to align outage scope with production requirements and reliability goals. Serve as the secondary scheduling resource to ensure continuity during planner or scheduler absences.
  • Execution Support & Continuous Improvement: Facilitate pre‑ and post‑outage reviews, lead lessons‑learned discussions, and provide reports on scope completion, cost performance, and reliability outcomes.

We offer permanent employment based onsite, working a primary 4/10 schedule. Work schedules may change during outages to accommodate business needs.

About you
