Surgery - Cardiovascular Physician

Looking for a Locum Cardiothoracic Surgeon in Indiana to provide high-level surgical and on-call coverage during a provider s PTO period, with potential for ongoing sporadic needs. This position involves performing a full range of adult cardiac and thoracic procedures within a busy hospital setting supported by advanced staffing and EPIC EMR. Providers will manage complex surgeries including CABG, valve procedures, and major thoracic operations.

• Coverage Dates: Dec 22 Jan 5 ()

• Future Needs: Possible ongoing sporadic coverage

• Setting: Hospital-based

• Call: 24-hour call (must include minimum 4 hours gratis)

• Average Surgical Volume:

  • 2 heart cases/week

  • 2 3 lung cases/week

  • Total: 5 6 procedures/week

• Reason for Coverage: Surgeon PTO

• Annual ER Volume: 45,000

• Operating Rooms: 16

• EMR: EPIC

• Ancillary Support: CT-NP, CT-PA, CT rounding nurse

• Patient Population: Adult & geriatric

• Credentialing: 30 days

• Travel Reimbursement: Flight, hotel, rental car

• Note: Trinity Health does not reimburse credentialing/application fees

Adult Cardiac Surgery & General Thoracic Surgery

• CABG

• Arterial revascularization (IMA, radial, gastroepiploic)

• Redo coronary revascularization (with/without valve surgery)

Thoracic Procedures

• Tube thoracostomy

• Pericardial window

• Thoracotomy lung biopsy

• Thoracotomy lung resections & pneumonectomy

• Thoracotomy decortication

• Chest wall resection & reconstruction

• Mediastinal surgery (mediastinotomy & biopsy)

Valve & Structural Procedures

• Heart valve repair/replacement

• CoreValve valve replacement

• Mitral valve repair

• Board Certified or Board Eligible Required

• Active Indiana medical license at submission Required

• Active IN DEA/CSR at submission Required

• Availability for all listed dates Required

• Conversion fee $25k Required

• 24-hr call with 4 hours gratis Required
