What You’ll Do:

• Provide high-quality care to post-surgical patients, including colorectal, abdominal, urological, orthopedic, and plastic surgery cases
• Monitor patient conditions and adjust care plans accordingly
• Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately in Epic system
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning
• Adhere to hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards
• Float to other surgical and medical inpatient units as needed

What You Need:

• Current KS or Multistate RN license
• BLS certification (AHA) required at submission
• Minimum 1-year recent experience in progressive care or step-down units
• Proficiency with Epic charting system (test-out available)
• Ability to pass a background check and immunizations for Hep B, MMR, Varicella, TDaP, and TB
• Flexibility with orientation start dates and potential unit adjustments

About the Assignment: This 32-bed Surgical Stepdown unit at Stormont Vail Health cares for patients undergoing abdominal and colorectal surgeries, urological procedures, orthopedic surgeries, and other complex cases. The team emphasizes high-quality, patient-centered care in a Magnet-recognized hospital dedicated to safety, continuous improvement, and professional excellence. Staffing ratios are 1:6, with rotations every other weekend and one holiday off per year.
