Job Description
Position Summary: District Surgery Center is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Surgical Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide direct support to the surgical team during outpatient procedures, ensuring a sterile environment, efficient workflow, and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgeries, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready for use.
· Assist surgeons and other surgical team members during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures.
· Operate and monitor surgical equipment, ensuring it is functioning properly and sterilized.
· Handle surgical specimens according to facility protocols.
· Maintain a clean and organized operating room before, during, and after procedures.
· Participate in patient positioning, draping, and maintaining sterile techniques.
· Monitor and track surgical instruments to ensure none are left behind in the patient’s body.
· Assist with patient transport to and from the operating room.
· Document patient care activities accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with all healthcare regulations.
· Assist in the preparation of patients and their families for procedures, explaining the process and addressing any questions or concerns.
· Work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure a smooth workflow, ensuring patient safety at all times.
· Adhere to infection control practices and safety standards in accordance with healthcare protocols.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program (preferred).
· Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
· Current CPR certification (BLS) required.
· 1+ year of surgical technologist experience in an outpatient or hospital setting preferred.
· Knowledge of medical terminology, instruments, and surgical procedures.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain focus and professionalism under pressure.
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
