Attention Certified Surgical Technologists looking to join a dynamic team in SHARON CT!!

Summary: Assumes responsibility and accountability for functioning as the scrub nurse in assisting with the nursing care activities and surgical services provided to a specific group of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of the Nursing Department and Hospital Administration. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the age of the patient served on the nursing unit or by patient care department.Purpose: This role assumes responsibility and accountability for the function of scrub technician assisting with the nursing care activities in the surgical services environment.  Individuals apply learned principles in coordinating activities directed at assisting the surgical team in implementation of care. Population served based on scope of services in the department. Essential Responsibilities:
  • Collects and utilizes available data necessary for the proper preparation of the surgical suite.
  • Performs proper sponge, sharps and instrument counts according to policy and procedure, demonstrated by lack of occurrences.
  • Maintains a safe surgical environment, assuring overall cleanliness of the surgical suite, proper placement of supplies to ensure a safe traffic pattern and verifies sterile processing through validation of integrity of sterile packaging.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and provides safe patient care through clear communication and collegial working relationships.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current trends and practices in the health care field, utilizing available educational materials and professional development opportunities.
  • Utilizes materials and equipment in a safe, therapeutic and cost effective manner, consistently checking all equipment for working order and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Participates and complies with the results of quality assurance audits and findings.
  • Consistently demonstrates an application of surgical technologist knowledge to perform assigned functions.
  • Maintain and Model REACH Values (Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Compassion, Honor).
  • Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • PREFER: One (1) year of operating room and surgical technician experience.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
  • Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
  • Basic computer skills, i.e. MS Outlook.
License, Registration, or Certification Requirements:
  • Surgical Technician Certification through an accredited educational institution.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
