  • Schedule: M-F Full-time (37.5 hrs/week)
  • Setting: TBD (Starting Interviews soon to determine which age group and classroom)
  • School Year: 26/27
Role Overview:A special education teacher creates and fosters learning environments for children with special learning requirements. They work with students who have special needs in their regular classroom or a separate, designated classroom. The role of the resource teacher is to assist the class teacher and to provide additional one-to-one support for children with moderate learning difficulties.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct/indirect instructional support in a positive, structured learning environment
  • Adapt teaching methods (e.G., multi-sensory techniques, repetition) to meet diverse needs
  • Develop and implement IEPs, collaborating with parents, administrators, and related service providers
  • Modify curricula and employ assistive technologies to promote academic, social-emotional, and functional growth
  • Teach socially acceptable behaviors using positive behavioral support systems
  • Monitor progress and communicate regularly with families to align priorities
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in special education or related field
  • Valid Maryland SPED Teaching License
