Job Title: System Administrator (AWS | Azure | Windows Server | DevOps)
Location: Tallahassee, FL (100% Onsite)Employment Type: Contract (W2 Only)Client: Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Through End Client
Job Summary
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is seeking an experienced System Administrator to support and enhance enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, and server environments within the Office of Information Technology (OIT). This role is responsible for administering and optimizing Windows Server, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Azure DevOps, and hybrid cloud environments while ensuring high availability, security, scalability, and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Windows Server administration, AWS cloud services, Azure infrastructure, IIS, networking, Linux administration, Azure DevOps, and enterprise systems support. This position requires hands-on experience managing complex infrastructure, supporting critical business applications, and collaborating across multidisciplinary IT teams.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Administration
  • Administer, maintain, and support enterprise Windows Server environments (2012 R2, 2016, 2019, and 2022).
  • Install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot enterprise server infrastructure.
  • Manage IIS web servers, application hosting, and web services.
  • Perform server provisioning, patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
  • Support enterprise storage, file systems, permissions, and resource management.
Cloud Administration (AWS & Azure)
  • Deploy, administer, and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Support and manage Microsoft Azure cloud resources, virtual machines, networking, and storage.
  • Assist with hybrid and multi-cloud architecture initiatives.
  • Participate in cloud migration, modernization, and infrastructure optimization projects.
  • Evaluate opportunities to improve cloud performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Azure DevOps & Automation
  • Create, configure, and manage Azure DevOps projects.
  • Administer Git repositories, build pipelines, release pipelines, and deployment automation.
  • Configure Azure DevOps organizational settings and permissions.
  • Develop automation solutions to reduce manual administrative tasks.
  • Support CI/CD implementation and infrastructure automation initiatives.
Network & Infrastructure Support
  • Configure and troubleshoot enterprise networking including:
    • TCP/IP
    • DNS
    • Firewalls
    • NTFS Permissions
    • Samba/CIFS File Sharing
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, throughput, latency, and utilization.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, application, and network issues across hybrid environments.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to resolve complex technical issues.
Linux Administration
  • Administer Linux environments including:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
    • Ubuntu
  • Perform Linux patching, system updates, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Support Linux-based enterprise applications and infrastructure services.
Microsoft Platform Administration
  • Administer Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Support Active Directory and Identity & Access Management (IAM).
  • Manage user provisioning, authentication, permissions, password policies, and security controls.
  • Support enterprise collaboration and Microsoft platform integrations.
Operations & Support
  • Provide daily infrastructure operations, monitoring, maintenance, and incident resolution.
  • Monitor server health, applications, cloud resources, and enterprise services.
  • Investigate production issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate software deployments, upgrades, maintenance windows, and disaster recovery activities.
  • Provide technical support to developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.
Security & Compliance
  • Implement infrastructure security best practices.
  • Support security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance initiatives.
  • Manage enterprise access controls and infrastructure security configurations.
  • Maintain documentation for systems, configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
Professional Experience
  • 5 8 years of experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure Engineering, or Information Systems.
  • 3 5 years supporting enterprise infrastructure, systems operations, maintenance, and administration.
  • 2 3 years administering:
    • Windows Server (2012 R2, 2016, 2019, 2022)
    • IIS
    • AWS Cloud
  • Experience supporting enterprise hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical production systems.
