Job Description

What You Will Do:

As a System Administrator Level 2 at Independent Software, you will support the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mission-critical Information Technology (IT) systems supporting national defense and intelligence operations. You will help maintain the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise IT environments by supporting day-to-day operations across client/server systems, storage, network infrastructure, and operating systems.

In this role, you will provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, monitor system health, and assist with system administration activities in Linux/UNIX and Windows environments. You will work closely with engineering teams, customers, and agency stakeholders to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for the implementation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operation of enterprise IT systems.
Monitor and support the day-to-day operation of client/server, storage, network, and enterprise infrastructure.
Configure, administer, and maintain Linux/UNIX and Windows operating systems.
Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain operating system software and system components.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues and support problem resolution through completion.
Monitor system performance and implement enhancements to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
Support system maintenance activities, including software updates, patching, and configuration management.
Develop and maintain scripts or automation tools to improve operational efficiency.
Support virtualization, enterprise infrastructure, and related technologies as required.
Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and system configurations.
Communicate system status, issues, and resolutions to customers, management, and technical teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of Linux/UNIX and Windows system administration.
Experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, including client/server, storage, and network environments.
Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, operating system, and network issues.
Experience with system monitoring, maintenance, and performance optimization.
Familiarity with scripting or automation tools to support system administration.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university plus eight (8) years of systems administration experience
In lieu of a degree, four (4) additional years of systems administration experience may be substituted

Certifications:

DoD 8570 IAT Level I or higher (e.g., Security+ CE) is required

Clearance Requirement:

Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
