Munson Healthcare's Revenue Cycle Operations are jointly operated by Huron Healthcare and Munson Health. Huron manages the operations and provides the Revenue Cycle leadership (managers and above are employed by Huron), while Revenue Cycle associates are employed by Munson Healthcare. Market leaders and hospital, clinic, and physician leadership across Munson Healthcare's eight community hospitals and additional clinic locations, are key stakeholders for the Revenue Cycle Operations and critical factors to ongoing Revenue Cycle success.

The System HIM Manager monitors compliance with key HIM indicators to maintain enterprise objectives at Munson Healthcare's Traverse City, Frankfort, Charlevoix, Otsego, Grayling, Cadillac, and Manistee locations. The System Health Information Manager oversees clerical, information release, and master patient index data integrity functions within the Health Information Management (HIM) Department. This role is responsible for the security, integrity, and accuracy of patient medical records and for implementing processes that support timely, complete, and compliant documentation. The manager collaborates extensively with physicians and hospital staff to enhance documentation quality, regulatory compliance, and electronic medical record functionality. The position requires strong knowledge of state and federal regulations governing privacy, security, record completion, and retention. The manager leads continuous quality improvement initiatives, supports regulatory surveys, and prepares data for reporting, budgeting, and process improvement. Additional responsibilities include participation in committees, development and maintenance of departmental policies, and oversight of daily HIM operations and workflows. The System Health Information Manager serves as a key liaison across Revenue Cycle departments, clinical providers, and practice staff, and acts as an enterprise-wide resource for health information management. Periodic travel to system facilities is expected.

KEY JOB DUTIES

  • Coordinate with the HIM team in the operations of daily job responsibilities
  • Develop, recommend, and oversee the implementation and administration of policies and procedures of respective areas
  • Evaluate process and procedures and coordinate with the management team to ensure efficient areas of focus and adhere to federal and local laws and regulations
  • Travel to system facilities for work and meetings is an expected, routine occurrence.
  • Assists in the development and evolution of the overall policies for Munson Healthcare HIM operations.
  • Demonstrate, through plans and actions, a consistent standard of excellence to which all department work is expected to conform
  • Focus on continuous improvement working with the System Director Manager and respective teams Managers across the Health System with a goal of delivering the highest degree of quality service possible
  • Provide support for Human Resource guidance
  • Complete, review, manage and monitor department budget
  • Directs and leads the HIM Team in the daily operations
  • Serves as The Joint Commission HIM Record of Care Chapter Leader.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQURIED SKILLS:

  • Effective and efficient organization and planning skills with the proven ability to manage complex multi-workstream performance improvement projects or multiple concurrent client engagements, while delegating and overseeing the work of junior team members
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking skills required to synthesize complex data sets and interpret qualitative and quantitative data and trends to implement recommendations resulting in measurable performance improvement and successful organizational change
  • Impactful and professional written and verbal communication set clear project team direction, develop key deliverables, escalate risks, and influence key stakeholders inclusive of client and internal senior leadership
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and client counterparts to understand business challenges, adapt implementation methodologies and approaches to ensure results align with client's business objectives
  • Team leadership experience including building talent, training, supervising, coaching/mentoring, and performance management

CORE REQUIREMENTS

  • Local or willing to relocate to greater Traverse City, MI area
  • U.S. work authorization is required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management is required
  • RHIA or RHIT Certification required- Specialized skills in one or more of the following areas: Clinical Documentation Improvement, Case Management and HIM/Coding
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a project-based operations performance improvement role within a hospital/clinical setting hospital and/or consulting firm environment focused on healthcare provider operations and/or process re-engineering projects
  • Minimum 1 year of experience managing major projects for large, complex healthcare organizations with multiple stakeholders
  • Willingness and ability to travel every week

The estimated salary range for this job is $80,000- $105,000. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron's annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron's pay for performance philosophy and Huron's benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
