Job Description

The Talent & Associate Producer is responsible for the conceptualization, planning, videography, on-camera presentation, editing and overall production of engaging video content for all Detroit Lions media platforms. The role is also responsible for hosting branded digital programming as well as live shows and events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The position will have responsibilities including but not limited to the following:

  • Report, capture visual content and produce stories for multiple platforms on deadline
  • Edit content including the integration of graphic elements, sound and music
  • Conduct on-camera interviews and contribute as a host, co-host or reporter for online features
  • Brainstorm, develop and deliver impactful pieces of content to help reach overall annual content goals
  • Translate high-level ideas from project owners and convert to production treatments
  • Upload/post finished product to the team's digital properties, social media profiles and FTP
  • Assist Detroitlions.com writers and staff in multimedia to complement written articles
  • Report from team events and serve as host for various events and game day programming including in-stadium and digital

On-Camera Talent & Hosting

  • Serve as host of head coach content segments
  • Serve as in-stadium pre-game show host on gameday
  • Host Lions Live including post-game show and additional programming including NFL tentpole events or Lions special events (NFL Draft, NFL Combine, Detroit Lions Training Camp, etc) as needed

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be passionate about video production and maintain a continued approach towards learning and development to ensure an industry relevant skillset
  • Must be motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Maintain professionalism when communicating with internal and external contacts
  • Must be accurate and efficient with ability to meet deadlines
  • Will adjust work schedule to meet departmental demands
  • Will keep appropriate information confidential
  • Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully and develop solutions quickly and effectively
  • Will accept other responsibilities and duties required by the supervisor consistent with the objectives and essential functions of this position. Such responsibilities shall be incorporated into the position description if they are ongoing

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Production, Communications or related field
  • 2-5 years of experience serving as on-camera talent in the sports industry
  • Professional experience in video production, ideally in a sports environment with a strong knowledge of the game of football
  • Proficiency with media editing software, preferably Adobe Creative Suite
  • Understanding of video encoding, codecs and formatting projects for appropriate content channels
  • Proficient at posting content to various websites, social platforms, etc.
  • Evidence of creativity and innovation in developing project and story ideas
  • Demonstrated strong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Evidence of highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience operating multiple types of cameras
  • General understanding of NFL rules, teams, players and culture is required
  • Must be available to work flexible and non-traditional schedules including extended hours during the NFL season, training camp and NFL Draft, including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Must be available to travel to all away games and / or other NFL and Lions events
  • May require work out of both Ford Field and the Meijer Performance Center
  • A valid Driver's License and good driving record
