Job Description
Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a 1st to 5th year associate in the Tax Practice of our San Francisco office. Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of strong technical tax experience practicing in a law firm or in tax with the federal government; experience dealing with large, complicated IRS disputes and litigation involving partnerships, estates, corporations, multinationals and high net worth individuals; and superior knowledge and understanding of IRS practice and procedure is a plus. IRS Chief Counsel experience is a plus.
Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, a high degree of maturity, keen attention to detail, and a proven willingness to accept significant responsibility and manage a challenging workload within a fast-paced environment.
Candidates must have an LL.M in tax; excellent academic credentials; strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills; be willing to work in the office; and be admitted to the California state bar.
Practice Summary
Greenberg Traurig’s Tax Controversy and Litigation Group advises clients in all phases of federal, state, and local tax disputes. We are highly skilled advocates in pressing arguments supporting the client’s position, in negotiating settlements, and in trials, where we are fierce litigators. Our persuasive arguments and knowledge of and experience with the tax system, its policies, and its procedures provide a strategic advantage in resolving tax disputes.
Our experienced attorneys practice across the United States, representing U.S. and international clients, including individuals, corporations, and government entities, before the IRS, the Treasury, the U.S. Congress and state tax tribunals, administrative agencies, and in court. Many members of our team have previously worked as attorneys for the Department of Justice (Tax Division), the IRS Chief Counsel, and the Treasury.
Our Chambers ranked global Tax Practice is comprised of 150 tax attorneys across the firm, located in approximately 35 offices throughout the United States, and internationally in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Warsaw. The expected pay range for this position is:
$225,000 - $360,000 per year
Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program. Additional voluntary programs include: voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance and pet insurance. Commuter and Transit programs may also be available in certain markets.
