We work daily to provide exceptional service to our people, customers, and our communities. Audit and assurance services are provided by Elliott Davis, LLC (doing business in NC and D.C. as Elliott Davis, PLLC), a licensed CPA firm.

Tax Manager will lead tax strategy and compliance in the Healthcare area. The Tax Manager will serve as a technical expert for private equity-backed healthcare entities while acting as a key integrator for new business coming through our pipeline. This role will be the point person for onboarding large-scale practice groups, ensuring seamless integration from proposal to filing.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and sustain excellent relationships with privately held and private equity-backed healthcare companies, serving as a trusted primary advisor.
  • Perform technical reviews of federal, state, and local tax returns with varying complexity, ensuring full compliance within the unique regulatory framework of the healthcare industry.
  • Provide expert tax modeling and consulting for mergers, acquisitions, and equity transactions, identifying creative solutions for complex structural issues.
  • Review operating agreements, letters of intent (LOIs), purchase agreements, and other legal documentation to ensure tax efficiency and risk mitigation.
  • Lead the administrative side of new business proposals and the onboarding/integration of large practice groups (ranging from 20 to 100+ locations).
  • Monitor the economic performance of engagements, including budgeting, billing, and collections, to ensure practice profitability.
  • Recruit, develop, and motivate team members, building a "ready-now" pipeline of leaders to support a consolidated healthcare tax team.
  • Partner with internal departments to provide comprehensive business solutions and capture growth opportunities from existing and prospective clients.
  • Build a robust professional network with colleagues, referral sources, and external organizations to attract new business in the healthcare and private equity sectors.
  • Other duties within the scope of the role and practice.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's in Taxation (MST) or Accountancy (MAcc) preferred but not necessary. Active CPA license required.
  • 5-7+ years of public accounting experience, with a heavy focus on Partnerships (Subchapter K) and flow-through entities.
  • Proven track record in Healthcare and/or Private Equity tax. Experience with multi-state healthcare practice groups is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform "cold checks" and technical reviews on complex transactional documents and tax returns.
  • 3+ years of experience managing staff and overseeing the economic performance of a client portfolio.
  • Ability to leverage or build a professional network within a market and broader healthcare community.
  • Proven record of developing junior and mid-level staff into "ready-now" leaders through proactive coaching and technical training.
  • The ability to balance multiple complex projects and meet client expectations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
