Job Description

Tax Manager

An established public accounting firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join its growing tax practice. This opportunity is ideal for a public accounting professional who enjoys combining technical tax expertise, client advisory, and team leadership within a collaborative environment that supports long-term career growth.

Position Responsibilities

As a Tax Manager, you will take ownership of client engagements while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and a leader to developing tax professionals. Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and review complex business and individual tax engagements

  • Provide proactive tax planning, consulting, and advisory services to clients

  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, responding to questions and providing practical solutions to complex tax matters

  • Develop strong client relationships by understanding their businesses, goals, and evolving needs

  • Research complex federal and state tax issues and provide well-supported recommendations

  • Manage multiple engagements, priorities, budgets, and deadlines simultaneously

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Senior Associates and Associates

  • Review work completed by team members and provide constructive feedback, technical guidance, and training

  • Collaborate with senior leadership on complex client matters and engagement strategy

  • Identify opportunities to expand services within existing client relationships

  • Participate in business development and relationship-building initiatives

  • Utilize tax technology and cloud-based systems to efficiently manage engagements and client service

  • Contribute to a collaborative, team-focused environment

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and tax experience, preferably within public accounting

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field

  • CPA or CMA preferred

  • Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or developing accounting professionals

  • Strong knowledge of business and individual taxation

  • Understanding of GAAP and applicable accounting standards

  • Strong tax research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong client service and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to confidently discuss tax matters and recommendations directly with clients

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines

  • Comfortable utilizing tax software and technology

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams
