TJT is hiring a Tax Manager to help scale our expanding Real Estate Tax practice. This role is designed for someone who wants to move beyond managing returns and into a position where they can shape client strategy, mentor talent, and directly influence the growth of a high-performing team.

You’ll work with developers, investors, and operators across multifamily, land development, and construction, advising on complex transactions and structuring decisions that drive real business outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the review of partnership and S corporation tax returns (Forms 1065 and 1120-S)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing strategic tax guidance and planning
  • Manage engagements from kickoff through delivery, ensuring quality, efficiency, and timeliness
  • Advise on complex real estate tax matters, including like-kind exchanges, special allocations, lot cost allocations, and basis step-ups

What Sets This Role Apart

  • High-impact client work: Direct involvement in real estate transactions and planning
  • Practice growth: Join a team that’s expanding and actively investing in its future
  • Visibility: Your work and contributions are seen, valued, and rewarded

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of public accounting experience with a focus on real estate
  • Strong expertise in partnership taxation and real estate-specific tax issues
  • Proven experience reviewing returns and managing client engagements
  • Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients and team members
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (master's preferred)
  • CPA license strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and client management skills

At TJT, you’ll find a firm that combines technical excellence with a genuinely collaborative culture. We’re intentional about growth—both for our clients and our people—and we give our managers the autonomy and support to make a real impact.

Why TJT?

  • The chance to work with owners and management of North Carolina’s top middle-market companies and established family-owned businesses

  • Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 36-hour/4-day work weeks during the slower times of the year for tax and audit professionals
