Tax Manager – Real Estate
Start Date: Q2 2026Locations: Raleigh, Durham, or Wilmington, NCWork Model: Hybrid (minimum 3 days onsite weekly)
TJT is hiring a Tax Manager to help scale our expanding Real Estate Tax practice. This role is designed for someone who wants to move beyond managing returns and into a position where they can shape client strategy, mentor talent, and directly influence the growth of a high-performing team.
You’ll work with developers, investors, and operators across multifamily, land development, and construction, advising on complex transactions and structuring decisions that drive real business outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the review of partnership and S corporation tax returns (Forms 1065 and 1120-S)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing strategic tax guidance and planning
- Manage engagements from kickoff through delivery, ensuring quality, efficiency, and timeliness
- Advise on complex real estate tax matters, including like-kind exchanges, special allocations, lot cost allocations, and basis step-ups
- Mentor and develop staff, helping build the next generation of TJT talent
- Collaborate with firm leadership on client strategy, growth initiatives, and practice development
- Stay ahead of evolving tax regulations and apply insights proactively to client situations

What You Bring
- 5+ years of public accounting experience with a focus on real estate
- Strong expertise in partnership taxation and real estate-specific tax issues
- Proven experience reviewing returns and managing client engagements
- Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients and team members
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (master's preferred)
- CPA license strongly preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and client management skills
