Job Description

Build Something Bigger Than a Traditional Tax Role

At Trueline, we believe the best accounting professionals don't just want to prepare returns — they want to help shape strategy, build systems, advise clients, and create something meaningful.

We're growing our tax and advisory practice and are looking for a senior tax leader who wants more than a traditional public accounting role. This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible position where you'll help architect and scale a modern tax function focused on advisory, client relationships, and long-term growth.

If you're currently in public accounting and feeling limited by bureaucracy, unclear partner-track timelines, or rigid corporate structure, this role offers the chance to make a real impact in a flexible, entrepreneurial environment.

What You'll Do

  • Lead advanced tax planning and advisory engagements for closely held businesses and high-net-worth clients
  • Review complex business tax returns including S-Corps and Partnerships
  • Build and improve tax workflows, systems, and processes
  • Mentor and support junior tax staff
  • Collaborate closely with leadership and accounting/advisory teams
  • Help shape the long-term direction of the tax practice
  • Serve as a trusted year-round advisor to clients

What Makes This Opportunity Different

  • Remote-first, highly flexible work environment
  • Significant autonomy and decision-making authority
  • Opportunity to build processes instead of inheriting outdated systems
  • Entrepreneurial, growth-oriented culture
  • No requirement to bring a book of business
  • Real leadership and ownership upside
  • Collaborative environment focused on responsiveness, trust, and client value

What We're Looking For

  • Active CPA license required
  • 6+ years of public accounting experience
  • Strong business tax and advisory background
  • Experience with closely held businesses and/or high-net-worth clients
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills
  • Comfortable operating in evolving, fast-paced environments
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Leadership or mentorship experience preferred

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package targeting approximately $130K–$170K total compensation
  • Bonus and profit-sharing opportunities
  • Long-term leadership and potential ownership path
  • Flexible remote work environment
  • High-autonomy culture with strong work/life flexibility

Preferred Locations

Strong preference for candidates located in or near:

  • St. George, UT
  • Cedar City, UT
  • Salt Lake City, UT
  • Las Vegas, NV
  • Phoenix / Scottsdale, AZ

This role is primarily remote, with occasional in-person collaboration expected.

Ideal Backgrounds

This role may be especially appealing to:

  • Tax Managers or Senior Tax Managers at regional CPA firms
  • CPAs frustrated with unclear partner-track opportunities
  • Advisory-focused tax professionals seeking more influence and autonomy
  • Former small firm owners or solo practitioners looking for support and stability
  • Entrepreneurial accountants who want leadership upside without running an entire firm themselves

If you're looking for a career-defining opportunity to help build and lead a growing tax practice, we'd love to connect.
