Tax Senior Associate – Corporate Tax

San Jose, CA 95113 | Hybrid – 3 Days in Office

Position Overview

ARC Group is recruiting a Tax Senior Associate for a Top 15 CPA firm in San Jose, CA. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional looking to take the next step in their career with a leading public accounting firm and gain increasing responsibility across corporate tax compliance, tax planning, and ASC 740 income tax accounting.

As a Corporate Tax Senior Associate, you will work with a diverse portfolio of clients and play an active role in managing tax engagements from start to finish. You will collaborate with experienced tax professionals and specialists to provide high-quality tax services, identify tax planning opportunities, and support clients with their evolving tax needs.

This position offers the opportunity to develop your technical expertise, take on increasing engagement-management responsibilities, and mentor junior professionals in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage client engagements from planning through completion, including planning, execution, budgeting, scheduling, and delivery of high-quality tax services.
  • Prepare and/or perform primary reviews of ASC 740 income tax provisions, including tax provision preparation and audit support.
  • Review federal and state corporate tax returns prepared by staff and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, compliance, and tax savings.
  • Provide corporate tax planning and consulting services to clients across a variety of industries.
  • Research and analyze complex federal and state tax matters and communicate recommendations to clients and engagement teams.
  • Respond to inquiries and information requests from the IRS, state taxing authorities, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns on tax projects.
  • Provide feedback and contribute to staff performance evaluations and engagement reviews.
  • Serve as an in-charge resource on engagements as needed and assume increasing responsibility for engagement management.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with client management and staff at all levels.
  • Gather information necessary to complete tax engagements and develop a strong understanding of each client's operations, processes, and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with tax specialists and internal resources, including the Washington National Tax Office (WNTO), to address complex client needs.
  • Utilize tax software and technology to prepare, process, and review tax returns and related deliverables.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, technical training, and industry education.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct, client confidentiality, accuracy, and quality.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • 2+ years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience.
  • ASC 740 income tax provision experience strongly preferred.
  • Corporate tax compliance experience.
  • CPA preferred or actively pursuing CPA certification.
  • Public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Strong tax research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships.
