Job Description
As a Tax Senior, your primary responsibilities will consist of tax consulting and tax return preparation duties, including tax research, tax planning, and the preparation of supporting work papers for various tax returns and tax-related projects. You will work with a variety of entities such as corporations, partnerships, estates, trusts, and non-profits. In addition, you will be exposed to a variety of industries including real estate, consumer industrial products, service-based companies, and not-for-profits. You will manage staff & review their work for all projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare & review tax returns for pass-through entities, C-corporations, trusts, and high-net-worth individuals
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Conduct research and planning to resolve client issues according to applicable tax laws and regulations
- Basic understanding of U.S. tax laws as they relate to ownership of foreign entities by a U.S. person.
- Minimize tax liability through sound and informed application of laws and regulations
- Provide assistance during tax audits
- Respond to notices from tax authorities
- Direct client contact involving income tax matters, transactional consulting, tax research, and compliance.
- Ability to anticipate client questions and be prepared to respond with practical solutions that can be implemented
- Advise, guide, coach, and provide encouragement to team members
- Train & manage staff
- Assign work to preparers and follow up on their progress
- Complete assigned projects in a timely manner and keep supervisors apprised of job status
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Outstanding organization and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and coordinate priorities with the help of more senior members of the team
- Team player who can collaborate with other individuals in the organization
- Highly motivated and takes initiative for professional growth and development
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, especially Excel)
- QuickBooks and ProSystems experience is a plus
- High level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management
- Positive attitude and excitement to learn
- Ability to travel to client locations, which may include occasional overnight stays
- Ability to work overtime, as needed
- 2-5 years of prior experience in public accounting
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire
