Job Summary
This essential position in our company, based in Horseheads, NY, offers the opportunity to utilize education, knowledge, training, and experience in the tax field. Horseheads is known for its scenic beauty and close-knit community, providing a great place to live and work. The role involves preparing a comprehensive range of tax returns, including complex ones requiring specific expertise. Responsibilities also include reviewing tax returns, providing leadership and guidance for tax planning, and training and mentoring team members across various tax areas.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tax returns for entities including partnerships, trusts, and gift taxes as assigned.
- Prepare tax returns ranging from medium to high complexity, depending on experience.
- Review tax returns for accuracy and tax-saving opportunities.
- Lead tax planning efforts, including preparing and reviewing quarterly tax projections.
- Interact with clients to clarify questions and data for tax preparation and projections.
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients and staff to enhance client satisfaction.
- Work closely with clients and advisors to maximize planning opportunities.
- Lead key functions or processes within the Tax Services Department.
- Work independently with oversight to effect change, focusing on efficiency and productivity.
- Train and mentor associates to enhance team skills and abilities.
- Respond to federal, state, and local correspondence on behalf of assigned clients.
- Assist staff with research of tax issues, special projects, and respond to taxing authority notices and audits.
- Stay current on applicable tax regulations and communicate updates to key staff members.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent academic record, with a four-year college degree; a graduate or advanced degree is preferred.
- Enrolled Agent certification is required unless exempt due to education and credentials.
- CPA is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 4-6 years of tax experience, including reviewing and preparing complex tax returns; experience with fiduciary returns is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven track record as a self-starter with high levels of intensity and motivation.
- Demonstrated passion for providing exceptional client service.
- Strong technical skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience working with tax-specific applications is required.
- Experience with Pro System, BNA Income Tax Planner, Intelli-Connect, and other tax research tools and software is preferred.

Full Time, 40 Hours Per Week
