Job Title: Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (TDHH)Location: Moncks Corner, SC 29461Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per weekContract Dates: August 12, 2026 June 4, 2027Employment Type: School-Based ContractPay Rate: Starting at $40/hour (dependent on experience)Position OverviewBirch Agency is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (TDHH) to support 3rd 5th grade students in a school-based setting in Moncks Corner, South Carolina (29461) for the 2026 2027 school year.This opportunity is ideal for an educator who is passionate about empowering students who are deaf or hard of hearing by providing specialized instruction, promoting language and communication development, and supporting academic success in a collaborative educational environment.The selected candidate will work with a caseload of approximately 12 students, collaborating closely with general education teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and families to ensure students receive high-quality, individualized educational services.Position Highlights

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals focused on academic achievement, communication, language development, and self-advocacy.
  • Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet the unique learning needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide accommodations and modifications that support student success in general education settings.
  • Promote the development of receptive and expressive communication skills using appropriate communication methods based on individual student needs.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and educational records.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and multidisciplinary planning sessions.
  • Consult with families, teachers, administrators, and related service providers regarding student progress and instructional strategies.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages student independence and confidence.
  • Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Active South Carolina Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing certification (or eligibility to obtain certification) required.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.
  • Knowledge of IEP development, differentiated instruction, and special education compliance.
  • Familiarity with communication methods used by students who are deaf or hard of hearing, including sign language and/or auditory-verbal approaches, based on student needs.
  • Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
Work Environment
  • Elementary school setting serving 3rd 5th grade students.
  • Small caseload of approximately 12 students, allowing for individualized instruction.
