Job Description
Looking for a meaningful summer leadership role? The Allen County Public Library is hiring Team Read Supervisors to lead and support teen employees who bring reading, books, and positive energy to elementary-age kids across Allen County.
As a Team Read Supervisor, you'll mentor teens, keep daily operations running smoothly, and help create safe, engaging reading experiences at community sites. If you enjoy working with youth, thrive in active environments, and know how to lead with patience and positivity, this could be the perfect summer job.
What You'll Do
Supervise and mentor Teen Readers as they read and engage with elementary age children
Help teen employees build professional, communication, and teamwork skills
Travel with Teen Readers to Team Read sites throughout Allen County
Create a positive, supportive work environment and encourage collaboration
Monitor performance, provide feedback, and share updates with Youth Services staff
Track attendance for Teen Readers and program sites
Oversee the use and care of books and materials at Team Read locations
Address conflicts or challenges calmly, fairly, and respectfully
Follow library policies and support the Library's mission and values
What We're Looking For
Experience working with children (ages 5–12) or teens (ages 13–18) required
Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Comfortable working with diverse populations and in both calm and high-energy settings
Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
Patient, adaptable, and confident handling challenges
Positive attitude and genuine enjoyment of working with youth
Why Work With Us?
Team Read is about more than books - it's about mentorship, literacy, and community connection. As a supervisor, you'll make a lasting impact on both young readers and the teens you lead, all while being part of a supportive and mission-driven library team.
This position works Monday–Friday during daytime hours in June and July. Because Team Read is a short, time-limited program, we ask that employees plan to be available for the full duration of the program.
