Position: Monitor Tech Facility Name: Mercy Hospital Southwest | Bakersfield, CA, 93311 Address: 400 Old River Rd, Bakersfield, CA 93311 Contract duration: 13 weeks with possible extension Shift: Nights 3x12 hours | 36 hours per week Gt. Unit Notes Numbers of beds 32 private beds Ratios Each tech watches 32 patients Required Certifications BLS Job Duties " Monitors cardiac rhythms and/or O2 sats " Obtains baseline ECG strip on all monitored patients according to department guidelines " Records post cardiac strips following established procedures " Updates and verifies patient data in information system " Maintains unit/department specific records as assigned " Recognizes rhythms with potential to alter patients physiology, obtains a ECG strips, and immediately reports all arrhythmias to the RN responsible for patient following protocols " Maintains current knowledge of technical operations & capabilities of monitoring station, maintains alarms to protocol and responds appropriately to alarms, identifies/troubleshoots routine technical problems and sends work orders for repairs when necessary " Handles incoming/outgoing communication, answers questions, and assists staff per protocol " Gives accurate shift report relating to patient's condition and rhythm status consistently Experience or 'Must have' skills Acute Care Monitor Tech Experience, Successful completion of a dysrhythmia course. Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Yes Monitor Equipment Client & Philips Healthcare - dependent on which unit the employee is working on for the specific shift. Shifts & Scheduling 3 shifts/week

• 3x12s- Day shift is 0700-1930, Night shift is 1900-0730. Self scheduling however, moved first based on unit needs. Unable to guarantee block scheduling. Weekend Requirement 4 weekend shifts per 4 week schedule, minimum Holiday Requirement 1 minor and 1 major, minimum Is there a call or standby requirement? No call, but can be placed on standby for low census. If placed on standby and called in they have a 30 min response time. Floating Requirements Yes - travelers are first to float - can be floated between our two campuses. Mercy Downtown & Mercy Southwest (approximately 6.5 miles away). • Hunter Green Unit/Department specific orientation Yes Additional Notes Cell phones are not allowed at the monitor. They may be used while on break. Rhythm interpretation competency prior to being cleared to work on the unit. Must be able to assist with answering call lights, phones, transferring calls and assisting staff with other duties within scope.
