Job Description

Siltronic is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of highly specialized hyper pure silicon wafers. Our global production network in Asia, Europe, and the USA includes today’s most advanced plants for 200mm and 300mm wafers. 

Essential Function/Major Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize technical skills to install, modify, assemble and maintain equipment and associated process supply systems.
  2. Accomplish tasks by effectively connecting, routing and assembling internal/external systems & components. Including but not limited: gearboxes, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, programmable logic controls and chemical.
  3. Analyze equipment or system to determine malfunction. Decide on proper repair action. Completes repairs by removing, repairing and replacing all necessary components of the equipment or system. Discuss findings with area operators, leadership, engineers and other technicians as needed to find immediate & long-term solutions.
  4. Effectively maintains all records of repairs, calibrations, tests, preventative maintenance, spare parts and procedures.
  5. Achieve certification of basic proficiency for equipment in assigned areas of responsibility. Continuously improve knowledge and skills. 
  6. Demonstrates effective housekeeping in the area of work and shop. Observes all safety rules and regulations.
  7. Acquire and maintain the necessary State/Federal licenses/certificates as needed for certain job tasks.
  8. Participates in and completes training as prescribed by corporate requirements and the immediate leadership.
  9. Assist in the analysis and frequently works independently in the repair and preventive maintenance.
  10. Occasional work required in hazardous areas involving potentially dangerous electrical power, chemicals and stored energy.
  11. Responsible for understanding the hazards in the workplace, including hazardous waste handling and awareness. Required to remain up to date on applicable trainings.

Education, Experience, Physical Requirements and Knowledge:

  1. High School diploma or GED completed.
  2. Minimum 6 months – one (1) year of experience as a TO (Technical Operator) with the company, or 6 months – one (1) year as a maintenance technician in a related industry such as automotive, heavy equipment, material handling, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
  3. Completion of technical training courses or seminars related to maintenance job skills.
  4. Ability to perform basic arithmetic in various units of measure, using Metric & English whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio, percentage, and to draw and interpret graphs and charts.  Familiar with algebra and able to manipulate variables in simple equations.
  5. Ability to interpret, with some assistance, engineering drawings, sketches and documents.
  6. Ability to read and interpret documents, safety rules, instructions, operating, procedure and maintenance manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence.
  7. Communicate with individuals/groups of both internal/external customers.
  8. Ability to work with people from different backgrounds individually and in a team environment.
  9. Required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, sit, climb or balance. Required to reach, and to manipulate using hands and fingers.  Frequently required to wear cleanroom attire, personal protective equipment and/or breathing devices.
  10. Ability to lift and/or move, by pushing/pulling, up to 50 lbs.
  11. Specific vision abilities required include; close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  12. Basic computer knowledge, experience with Microsoft products.
  13. Experience using most forms of hand tools including wrenches, ratchets, hammers, punches, screwdrivers, and measurement devices. 
  14. Experience with most common power tools including drills, grinders, portable saws, impact drivers, and sanders.
