Job Description

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Technical & Engineering Manager – Production Chemical Processes for our client, a high-purity specialty chemical manufacturer supporting the semiconductor industry, in Portland, OR. This is a direct hire position overseeing engineering and technical operations that support high-purity chemical production systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with the following: chemical process engineering, production system reliability, continuous improvement initiatives, process safety management, and leading technical teams in a regulated manufacturing environment.

• Pay & Schedule• Salary: $130,000–$165,000 annually DOE• Schedule: Day shift• Position Type: Direct Hire

Key Responsibilities• Lead and manage production chemical processes including wet chemical transfer, mixing systems, and container handling operations• Oversee Process Engineers and Production Technical staff to maintain safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations• Monitor and evaluate production systems to ensure uptime, throughput, and product quality targets are achieved• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, and operational performance• Lead Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and manage the Management of Change (MOC) process for chemical production systems• Support mechanical integrity, preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance programs for chemical production assets• Oversee certification, recertification, and repair processes for chemical containers including ISO tanks, totes, and drums• Partner with engineering, operations, and quality teams to resolve production challenges and optimize process capability• Manage departmental budgets and engineering resources supporting production operations• Lead engineering projects from concept through implementation while maintaining cost, schedule, and quality targets• Maintain inventory and availability of critical spare components supporting production continuity

Required Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering• 10+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, or technical operations leadership• Minimum 5 years of experience in a Process Engineer or similar technical role• Strong knowledge of high-purity chemical production processes within manufacturing environments• Experience with process controls and continuous improvement methodologies such as SPC or FMEA• Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical or engineering teams• Strong project management skills and ability to lead engineering initiatives from planning through execution• Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly across engineering, operations, and leadership teams• Ability to work within chemical production environments and wear required PPE including respirators

Preferred Qualifications• Experience supporting semiconductor or advanced technology manufacturing industries• Experience with chemical blending, packaging, or bulk chemical transfer systems• Familiarity with process safety and risk management tools such as PHA or advanced risk assessment methodologies• Experience leading capital projects or large-scale process improvement initiatives• Experience working within ISO or other regulated manufacturing quality systems
