Job Description

Job Title: Technical Communications Specialist II

Location: Rochester, NY 14626

Duration: 12 Months

Shift:Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

PR: $32 to $34/hr.

Summary

The Technical Communications Specialist II is responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation such as user manuals, instructions for use (IFUs), product labeling, online help, and presentations that support the safe and effective use of products. The role works closely with Engineering, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, IT, and Product Management to gather technical information and ensure documentation is accurate, compliant, and delivered on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and product communications.
  • Gather information from subject matter experts.
  • Edit, proofread, and manage document reviews and approvals.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, and style standards.
  • Follow document change control processes.
  • Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Support documentation validation and resolve documentation-related issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, Biology, Medical Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of technical writing experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with HTML, XML, DITA, Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Office, and topic-based authoring.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in a regulated industry (medical device, healthcare, or similar).
  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS), CSS, JavaScript, website authoring, and translated documentation.
