Job Summary:

As a Technical Engineering Supervisor, you will provide strategic leadership and technical expertise to the engineering team, driving the innovation of drivetrain technologies and core components. This role carries primary design responsibility within drivetrain domain and is instrumental in cultivating key customer relationships. By translating complex technical requirements into quantifiable deliverables and collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure the success of critical programs. You will define the technology roadmap, manage team performance, and serve as the primary technical liaison for customers and suppliers to drive the growth of the Control Devices Business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership & Innovation: Lead the design and development of new drivetrain technologies and core components from initial concept through mass production.

  • Strategic Roadmap Management: Define and execute the technology product roadmap, ensuring the drivetrain product line remains competitive through innovation and benchmarking analysis.

  • Product Life Cycle Management: Full ownership to innovate technologies and drive core components through product life cycle while meeting all program deliverables.

  • Design & Value Optimization: Oversee all VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) initiatives and supplier resourcing activities to optimize the product pipeline and component costs.

  • Business Development Support: Provide cross-functional alignment on new business pursuits, leading technical quotations and identifying deliverables for potential programs.

  • Customer & Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for technical support regarding actuator systems, collaborating closely with customers, suppliers, and Program Management.

  • Problem Solving & Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and resolve design risks using structured analytical tools and problem-solving methodologies.

  • Team Management & Development: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of product engineers; manage performance and facilitate organizational change to align the team with long-term business goals.

Education & Experience:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.

  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 12 years in product development engineering, including at least 2 years in a demonstrated technical leadership or supervisory role.

  • Industry Expertise: Extensive experience in at least one of the following: mechanical design, PCBA functions, gear/geartrain design, bearing technology, spring/lost-motion design, or DC motors (brushed/brushless) including controls and software interaction. 

Technical Skills & Core Competencies

  • Engineering Excellence: Mastery of technology innovation, product development tools, including DFMEA/PFMEA, DVP&R, PPAP, and DFA.

  • Advanced Quality Planning: Demonstrated experience in APQP, specifically in implementing and managing complex design engineering changes within production environments.

  • Problem Solving: Expert ability to perform root-cause analysis and execute systematic problem-solving methodologies to resolve design and manufacturing risks.

  • Resource Management: Proven capability in effective resource planning and project management to meet departmental and program goals.

LOCATION AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to travel internationally, including Asia Pacific Region

  • Up to 25% travel may be required to meet the needs of the business
